Swedish football powerhouse AIK Fotboll has collaborated with Nike to release a stunning, limited-edition, all-black commemorative kit which honours the club’s 128-year history.

The reigning Allsvenskan champions, founded in 1891, had made only 128 units available for purchase before the super-slick ‘super-black’ jersey sold out in a matter of minutes.

With the AIK logo, Nike ‘Swoosh’ and ‘1891’ branding all blacked-out and emblazoned across the chest of the shirt this ultra-wearable combination really does go with anything but is also indicative of a fresh mentality.

The Stockholm-based club’s 2018 league title was their first in almost a decade, but the club will look to get straight back to business as they look to do it all again in the 2019 season, a mindset reflected by the kit’s ‘no-fuss’ styling.

Much to the disappointment of kit-enthusiasts, the much-hyped commemorative shirt will only be taking centre stage for the duration of AIK’s pre-season fixtures, after which time it will be succeeded by a yet-to-be-released 2019 Home kit.

Each of the lucky 128 purchasers will be impressively reminded of the kit’s ultra-exclusivity, with each individual shirt being delivered in a luxurious black presentation box.

Of course, there’s quite the considerable price attached with all this exclusivity and luxury, with the limited-edition jersey retailing at 1100 Swedish Kronas, or around $170 AUD (and let’s not even discuss the shipping).

It’s all for a charitable cause, however, with the revenue from sales of the limited-release jersey being diverted to the AIK Fotball Mentor Program, which seeks to take a positive, football-driven approach to counteract the effects of segregation in the Swedish capital.
