Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips insists the three points gained far outweigh the new record set after coming from behind to beat Birmingham 3-2 at Stamford Bridge.
The home side were given a shock when old boy Mikael Forssell opened the scoring and Olivier Kapo levelled to make it 2-2, but Michael Essien's strike ensured Jose Mourinho's side set an English record for unbeaten league matches at home of 64 games.
"It's not so much the record but it's more important we kept the winning streak going. It's about trying to get the three points and trying to get the first win under our belt," man of the match Wright-Phillips told Sky Sports.
"We knew how tough a game it was going to be when we came out against them, we had watched them play on tape and we knew they had a good side out against us.
"We had to keep our head down, defend well and attack well too - and that's what we did."
