The Sky Blues produced their worst performance in recent memory on the way to a 4-0 drubbing in Gosford in December.

It was the lowest point of what has been a miserable season for Vitezslav Lavicka's men, who must win their five remaining matches and have results go their way in order to make the top six.

"We were very disappointed with that and ashamed to say that we didn't turn up for the game against the Mariners," Jamieson said of the Week 17 defeat.

"It's something that definitely played on the mind."

But after wins over Newcastle and Gold Coast and a 1-1 draw with arch rivals Melbourne Victory, Jamieson warned the Mariners to expect a different encounter this time around.

"We're pretty confident to be honest, we've had three positive results and three positive performances," he said.

"Coming off an up and down result where we thought we should have won the game in the first half against Melbourne and in the end came out with a draw, we're very confident.

"We're starting to play some very good football and with that comes confidence, so we're definitely in a good frame of mind and looking forward to the game.

"I think it's just about being positive and I guess trying to build on the platform we've built in recent weeks and if we can do that then there's no reason why we can't beat them - in this league everyone can beat anyone."

But if the Sky Blues will have do it without the services of Mark Bridge (stomach) and Hayden Foxe (groin), while Lavicka says star striker Alex Brosque (groin) is a 'very small chance to play' on Sunday.

"Alex is close to being back but we must manage him because his injury could be very dangerous, so he needs maybe a couple of days more," Lavicka said.

Meanwhile, Jamieson endorsed the club's decision to guarantee coach Lavicka's position for the upcoming Asian Champions League campaign.

"I think he is a fantastic manager and the time I've been here he's worked really well and I'm very grateful for him bringing me to the club," Jamieson said.

"It's not for me to say it's a good decision or a bad decision but I'm really happy he's staying and hopefully we can build on these results and do him proud."
