Enfield suffered a season-ending knee injury at training last week and the club is in negotiations with a number of players to step into the role.

While Culina would not reveal details, he did say the club is not necessarily looking to sign a like-for-like replacement and may opt for another defender or striker.

When pressed on the identities of the possible signing, Culina would only jokingly assure press that the player would be “damn good.”

yesterday confirmed that Sydney are looking at an English left-back and a German striker.

“The injury to Mike Enfield was a bit unfortunate because he was a player who was putting pressure on the others," he said.

"We want a little bit of pressure on everyone to just give us that little bit extra.”

He added: “We’ve cast a net far and wide.

"We’ve looked at options of getting another striker, another defender...or do we just get a damn good player? And that’s where it is at the moment, we’re looking for a damn good player…

“We are in contact with a number of players and hopefully one of those will turn out to be a damn good player!”

Wollongong Wolves striker Osagie Ederaro is also still in the hunt to secure a deal with the club. Ederaro has been trialing with Sydney FC all week and was present again today.
