The partnership will see Sydney FC join European football icons Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Bayern Munich in the legendary “three stripes”.

Melbourne Victory last month revealed they too will be sporting adidas kits next season and Wellington Phoenix are also believed to be close to confirming a deal with the German giants.

All three Sydney FC teams – Hyundai A-League, Westfield W-League and the National Youth League – sides will train and play in adidas. Sydney FC will unveil their highly anticipated new strip and launch 2011/12 membership packages on Monday August 8.

Sydney's new home playing strip is understood to keep the sky blue base colour but features a darker pinstripe on the front and a navy collar. The away strip sees the colours reversed, but without the collar.

The training kits - worn for the first time today - are a royal blue with black and white side panels and sleeves. Polo shirts will also be available in a similar design. The tracksuits are dark blue with adidas's white three stripes up the front.

Sydney FC CEO Dirk Melton welcomed the beginning of the relationship with the global sports leader.

"We are delighted to be able to announce our new apparel partnership with adidas. The new arrangement is a significant statement in our desire to improve the club’s brand,” Melton said.

“Our players are very excited about using the adidas product because of the incredible quality driven by both design and technology elements. Throughout the course of the partnership the players will be heavily involved in product testing and other R&D initiatives.

“I am sure that our members, fans and corporate partners will be waiting in anticipation to be able to purchase Sydney FC merchandise that includes the famous three stripes.”

The new partnership will see Sydney FC players and coaching staff given access to kits and training wear that features specific technologies to assist the club in the varied Australian climates such as adidas ClimaCool™ which offers heat and moisture controlling materials, as well as ventilation channels which improve air flow to the skin in the key heat zones.

adidas Australia Managing Director, Greg Kerr said he was excited to announce the new four year partnership with Sydney FC and is looking forward to a successful ongoing partnership.

“We are proud to partner with one of the most recognised brands in A-League history," he said.

"We look forward to unveiling the newly designed home and away strips which incorporate the latest performance enhancing technology.

"Our partnership with Sydney FC is testament to our commitment to football and our mutual partnership is not only great for football in New South Wales, but football across Australia.”

All strips and supporter gear will be available via the club, adidas Sports Performance stores and leading sports retailers from September 2011.
