Sydney FC will host next weekend's A-League Grand Final after storming to a 3-0 win over Perth Glory in Saturday night’s first semi final at Allianz Stadium.
The premiers earned their shot at the double with a rampant three-goal first half in front of over 21,000 fans.
Glory began with confidence on a poor surface, but any Sydney nerves were settled when Josh Brillante thundered an unstoppable drive beyond Liam Reddy in the 21st minute.
Sudden death: Sydney v Glory pic special
Reddy tipped two more efforts around the post but couldn’t deny a rampaging Jordy Buijs shortly before the break, with the VAR deeming an offside Bobo to have not impacted play.
The visitors were left searching for a miracle after Filip Holosko athletically added a third on the stroke of half time.
Andy Keogh spurned a pair of opportunities but the visitors rarely created enough to trouble the Sky Blues, who will aim to cap a dream season with their third championship against either Melbourne Victory or Brisbane Roar next weekend.
GOALS
1-0 Sydney: Brillante, 21’
Receiving possession centrally and with few options, Brillante got the ball out of his feet and lashed an absolute bullet into the top left corner.
2-0 Sydney: Buijs, 37’
Buijs stormed through the centre, collected a one-two with Alex Brosque and did enough to finish low through Reddy.
3-0 Sydney: Holosko, 45’+1
Holosko rose high to nod beyond the onrushing Reddy after Brandon O’Neill dinked a delightful ball over Glory’s back four.
