Sydney FC have ditched their planned move to the Northern Beaches for the clash against Melbourne City next month over concerns about Brookvale Oval's surface.
The match on Sunday March 17 has now been switched to Leichhardt Oval instead of the Dee Why home of NRL side, Manly Sea Eagles.
Sky Blues Chief Executive Officer Danny Townsend explained: “Sunday’s game at Leichhardt Oval looked and felt amazing and I was delighted with the amount of support we received from our Members and fans.
“We’ve had some great backing from the area and I expect more of the same for our next two matches there.
“Obviously we are disappointed to have to move the game away from Brookvale but with only three weeks to go there is still work to do on the playing surface to bring it up to Hyundai A-League standard.
“We’d rather make a decision now to give our Members and stakeholders enough notice of the change, and will continue to work with Brookvale Oval and the Council to provide us with an option to host Hyundai A-League football at Brookvale next season.”
