SYDNEY FC have sacked Chief Executive Dirk Melton in a row over his management style after a series of "serious" allegations by club employees about his "unacceptable behaviour".
Melton today issued a statement denying the mystery conlplaints laid against him and said he would be taking legal action over his dismissal.
A statement from the club today read: "The board of Sydney Football Club Pty Limited has today announced that Sydney FC has terminated, effective immediately, the employment of Dirk Melton, its Chief Executive Officer.
"The unanimous decision of the board follows a number of formal complaints of a serious nature by employees which were investigated and revealed behaviour in Mr Melton's management of staff which was completely unacceptable.
"The board acknowledges that, during his period as Chief Executive Officer, Mr Melton brought enthusiasm and passion to the role and had set on a path to achieve the strategic long term goals of the club.
"However, the board determined that Mr Melton's behaviour towards staff was inconsistent with his obligations and could not be tolerated by the board, and as a consequence the club could not continue with him as Chief Executive Officer.
"Stefan Kamasz will undertake the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer, until the board makes a decision as to Mr Melton's replacement."
His dismissal comes less than nine months after the former Canterbury Bulldogs Chief Operating Office was appointed by the club, joining on June 20, 2011.
Melton was the club's sixth CEO in its seven A-League seasons, and was hailed as the start of a new era of stability for the club, now notorious for its revolving door policy on chairmen and CEOs.
However under Melton, the club improved its community links, focusing on core target markets, increasing memberships and average crowds dramatically this season despite poor onfield results.
He was also part of the team that managed to lure Socceroo Brett Emerton to sign for the side this season.
But the club failed to find a major sponsor after refusing to sell off any front of short sponsor deals for less than they valued it, resulting in the club recently adopting Unicef charity at their kit logo for the remainder of this season.
Today Melton took to Twitter to confirm his exit and added: "Tough day. Tough job! Thanks to all those who have sent well wishes. I gave my all at @SydneyFC and I'm proud of what was achieved.
"I''m sad it has ended like this. I wish the @SydneyFC team and staff all the best."
In a statement to the media, he added: "I believe my excellent relationships with the vast majority of Sydney FC's staff speak for themselves.
"I will not be commenting on the circumstances that have purportedly given rise to the board's decision other than to deny strenuously any allegations that have been made against me suggesting that I have engaged in unacceptable management of staff or any other form of inappropriate behaviour."
