Brendon Santalab has returned from Europe to link up with his old mentor, Branko Culina at Sydney FC.
The 25-year-old forward has previously played under Culina at Sydney United, but has also worked with other A-League managers Lawrie McKinna and David Mitchell.
Along with NSL experience, Santalab has played for Ostende FC and St Truiden in Belgium as well as Hungarian side Utpest FC but was keen to return to Australia to be closer to friends and family.
“He is an exciting striker. He is very quick and has a nose for goal, he will definitely be a handful for defenders in the A-League," says Culina.
Santalab says that he has kept tabs on the A-League and Sydney's Asian Champions League campaign while overseas.
“It’s all worked out really well. Sydney is close to Wollongong, which is home, and I already know about half the team. It’s important to feel comfortable at a new club.”
“I think Sydney has assembled a side now well equipped to win the A-League. I’m happy to be back home and up for the challenge of helping Sydney win back the title."
