Sydney FC’s build up to the 2013-14 Hyundai A-League season takes another step forward on Wednesday night with the first pre-season Community match against Belmore United at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.
The match is one of two games organised as preparation for Sydney FC’s clash with Japanese J-League outfit Sagan Tosu while continuing the Sky Blues’ community engagement program.
New signings Nick Carle, Pedj Bojic, Corey Gameiro, Matt Jurman and Marc Warren will be part of the Sky Blues squad, alongside the likes of Brett Emerton, Rhyan Grant, Joel Griffiths and Sebastian Ryall.
The Sydney FC players are into the fourth week of pre season training as coach Frank Farina continues to reshape the squad ahead of what is looming as a crucial 2013/14 campaign.
Farina and assistant coach Rado Vidosic have been putting the players through an intensive pre season schedule of double and even triple sessions as they look to adopt a new style of play while ensuring the team is firing on all cylinders for the season opener at Allianz Stadium on 11 October.
Sydney FC will also play Sydney University at the Macquarie University Sports Fields on Tuesday 16 July before flying out to Japan to take on Sagan Tosu on 24 July.
Entry to the match is $5 for adults with children under the age of 16 admitted free of charge.
