Sydney FC got rid of their derby cobwebs with a thumping 4-1 win at home to Newcastle Jets at Leichhardt Oval.
Sydney FC fan-favourie Milos Ninkovic netted his first goal of the season, finishing off slick Sydney move in the opening minutes of the match.
They didn't have much time to celebrate though as Matt Millar popped up with a headed equaliser only three minutes later.
Adam Le Fondre set Sydney's record straight at Leichhardt just before half time with his third of the season and it wasn't long after the restart when Sydney added another, with John Koutroumbis scoring an own goal.
Sydney put the result beyond any doubt when Kosta Barbarouses netted his first goal in Sky Blue, passing into an empty net at the end of a lovely move.
SYDNEY FC
Andrew Redymayne - 6.5
He looked comfortable manning the fort for Sydney clawing a header out with ten minutes remaining and standing strong against Jason Hoffman to deny Newcastle's chances.
Paolo Retre - 6.5
Retre made a big improvement on his derby performance looking much more confident at left-back for Sydney FC.
Ryan McGowan - 7
All the work was done by him but the final touch hit John Koutroumbis on the way to Sydney's third goal.
OWN GOAL | It's the feeling every footballer dreads and Sydney take a commanding lead.

Alex Wilkinson - 7
Wilkinson's passing game was everything his coach expected as he rarely found himself in a sticky situation.
Rhyan Grant - 7.5
Grant was in his element bombing down the right-hand side and got his second assist of the season with a low cross to Le Fondre.
Brandon O'Neill - 7
O'Neill intercepted Matt Millar's pass and was involved later in the move, assisting Kosta Barbarouses for his first goal for Sydney.
Luke Brattan - 7
Brattan's wicked ball found Ninkovic at the back post to send Sydney ahead early in the match. His passing was splendid at a 96% accuracy rate.
Alexander Baumjohann - 6.5
Baumjohann has put in two great performances playing at home at Leichhardt. Sydney FC fans will hope that carries onto Jubilee Oval for the rest of their season.
Milos Ninkovic - 7.5
A terrific start for the Serb saw him ghost in at the back post to knock in the opener with a side-footed volley.
GOAL | And another one for Milos against the Jets!

Adam Le Fondre - 7
He has the poacher's eye for goal. Le Fondre had an opportunity to put Sydney ahead after 17 seconds but blew his chance. He made up for it sending Sydney ahead before half-time.
Kosta Barbarouses - 7
The Kiwi had dazzling feet that would make even Gene Kelly jealous. Barbarouses netted his first goal for Sydney side stepping Glen Moss and rolling the ball into an empty net.
SUBSTITUTES
Anthony Caceres - 6
Caceres enjoyed a relaxed cameo off the bench for Sydney with the result already wrapped up.
Joel King - N/A
King replaced Rhyan Grant to familiarise himself once again in the left-back role.
Trent Buhagiar - N/A
Buhagiar made his much awaited return to football after 18 months out with an ACL injury. He could have made headlines with a goal but he missed his one-on-one opportunity.
NEWCASTLE JETS
Glen Moss - 5
Strong reflexes saw him ensure Alex Baumjohann's deflected strike didn't take the wind out of Newcastle's sails, even if it took some wind out of his own.
Matt Millar - 6
Millar missed Ninkovic at his back post who snuck behind him to put Sydney ahead after seven minutes. His resilient character was on show, equalising just minutes after the restart with a powerful header.
GOAL | Clear skies in Sydney but it's raining goals at Leichhardt!

Nigel Boogard - 5.5
Boogard could never take a moments rest with Sydney FC's exuberant front three, spending most of his time tracking back to cover blistering runs.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley - 5.5
Adam Le Fondre wedged himself in between Boogard and Topor-Stanley before scoring Sydney's second goal. The striker snuck in ahead of Topor-Stanley to score.
John Koutroumbis - 5.5
He had a tough time keeping tabs on Rhyan Grant and was caught in two minds when Baumjohann pulled him out to free Grant for the second Sydney goal. Unfortunately he will have an own goal marked next to his name as well.
Steven Ugarkovic - 5.5
Ugarkovic was given one of the toughest jobs in Australia, marking Milos Ninkovic. However, when he pivots to go forward he turns into a real threat.
Matthew Ridenton - 5
Ridenton at times dropped in between Boogard and Topor-Stanley to provide extra cover but in terms of beginning attacks for Newcastle he struggled.
Angus Thurgate - 5
We know Thurgate's ability can be truly seen in the final third. Because Sydney held so much possession he spent most of time tucking into midfield to provide more cover.
Jason Hoffman - 5
Hoffman could have put Newcastle in front on two occasions. He couldn't get his bearings when Koutroumbis's delightful cross came into the back post and came off second best in a one-on-one with Andrew Redmayne.
Dimitri Petratos - 6
The Socceroo was at his best from the dead ball assisting the Jets equaliser with a pinpoint cross onto the head of Millar.
Abdiel Arroyo - 6
Arroyo expressed his qualities in build up with good showings when he had time to hold off defenders and turn into space. Unfortunately for Newcastle fans, there wasn't a spectacular goal to celebrate this time.
SUBSTITUTES
Ben Kantarovski - 6
Kantarovski was brought on at half-time to provide some more steel in Newcastle's midfield. A flurry of chances for Sydney FC in the second half indicated his substitution may not have had the desired impact.
Nick Fitzgerald - 6
He came close to netting a consolation goal as his header flashed over the bar in the dying embers of the game.
