Under legendary fitness guru Les Motto, the entire squad was put through the rigorous 60-minute sweaty workout before having a weekend off.

Players boxed continuously for 30 minutes before switching to hold the focus pads for another 30 minutes. Throw in numerous sit ups and push ups and the workout certainly achieved coach John Kosmina’s goal of giving the players a tough session.

“I wanted them to work hard before they have a weekend off,” Kosmina said. “At this stage of the season it is also about stimulating the players and they were looking forward to it and focused well during the session.

“Les (Motto) is old school and he works people hard. It was a great session from our perspective to finish off a strong week of training where they trained every day and the boys can have a couple of days break before we get into training next week.”

In positive news, Sydney FC midfielder Robbie Middleby got through the session after extending himself on the pitch on Thursday and he is a certain starter for the return clash with Queensland Roar.

“It (hamstring) is feeling good now,” Middleby said. “I worked pretty hard at training yesterday and extended the hammie (hamstring) and it feels good. Today was tough with a lot of jumping around and it felt fine.

“I’ll be ready to play against Queensland next Friday.”
