Club CEO George Perry has admitted they are scouring the UK for an out-of-favour star to bring Down Under on loan.

Sydney have been able to launch another marquee-style hunt after US midfielder Mike Enfield was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Although Enfield was signed under the $1.8million salary cap, A-League rules allow clubs to sign replacement stars for injured players at any cost.

Now the club hopes to bring in a player to end their goalscoring woes or a desperately needed leftback - but a deal with currently clubless Socceroo John Aloisi has been ruled out.

"We're looking at English Premiership and Championship clubs for either a striker or a left back to come here on loan," Perry told Sydney Daily Telegraph.

"And we're looking at overseas players as well as Australians now Michael Enfield has been ruled out."

Sydney's marquee star Juninho is again tipped to return to the action in this weekend's game against Newcastle Jets.

The star was originally reckoned to be out of action for four to six weeks after he ripped shoulder tendons from the bone in their game against Adelaide United.

Sydney coach Branko Culina thought he could have returned to the line-up two weeks ago after the star made a 'miracle' recovery...but he missed that game and last week's match against Queensland Roar.

But Perry now says the Brazilian World Cup winner could be back again this weekend, as well as Socceroo veteran Tony Popovic.

He added: "Juninho and Popovic are back this week which is a huge boost for us."
