Sources overseas have confirmed the striker is set to train with Vitezslav Lavicka’s side early next week and that he fits the bill as a powerful target-man.

The search for this final piece in the Sydney FC squad jigsaw has been a difficult one for the reigning A-League champions.

Since John Aloisi left, club powerbrokers recently admitted that over 80 players have been looked at as an alternative to the smaller “Killer-Bs” strike duo of Mark Bridge and Alex Brosque.

Underlining the urgency of the situation is news that Bridge’s hamstring injury - sustained in last weekend’s opening round of the A-League - will keep him out of this weekend’s trip to North Queensland Fury.

Sydney FC vice chairman Scott Barlow admitted in recent weeks that the search was very frustrating but added: "It's about getting the right player, not about getting a player for the start of the season."
