EXCLUSIVE: Exciting Sydney FC teenager Kerim Bulut says having a coach like Vitezslav Lavicka is helping him take his game to another level.
The 17-year-old was a second half substitute in Sunday's 1-1 draw with Newcastle Jets at the SFS and caught the eye with a promising performance up front.
With injuries and Young Socceroo call ups depriving the Sydney FC squad of a number of options (Aloisi, Danning, Grant, Jurman, Payne, Golec) Bulut took his chance and impressed.
Bulut is expected to play in Sydney's youth team this season, just as he did last year, but the exciting striker hopes he can push his way into one of the strongest senior A-League squads over the next 12 months.
"If I do well hopefully I can get in the first team. My ambition is to do well, score goals and let's see what happens in the first team," Bulut told au.fourfourtwo.com after the game.
"I done alright [today]. I just kept it simple. It was a good experience to get out there with the boys."
And the youngster is relishing having a manager with a CV that includes Sparta Prague and the Czech U21 side.
"He's a very good coachm" said Bulut. "And he's big on discipline keeping the mind going. Keeping it simple, passing, chasing and working hard for the team.
"He told me today not to be nervous but just keep doing what you're doing and keep it simple.
"My goal is to break into the first team."
In other Sydney FC news, coach Vitezslav Lavicka was sufficiently impressed with Swiss central defender Stephan Keller to offer him a contract with the sky blues.
"He played well, a good performance. His experience, a tough player, we need this type of player," the sky blues supremo said after the game.
Keller played 90 minutes against the Jets and looked solid alongside Simon Colosimo. It's a position the sky blues have been looking to fill for some time.
Lavicka added that he was satisfied with his team's first half performance but not its second.
He added: "Yes, we are happy and hungry to start [the A-League]."
