SYDNEY FC's Nick Carle says his side will keep trying to make the finals until it's mathematically impossible after moving to within four points of the top six with a 2-0 win at Perth Glory.
The Sky Blues are unbeaten in their past five matches and with games to come against fellow finals contenders Newcastle Jets, Wellington Phoenix and Melbourne Heart they are still a chance for the top six.
"There's still a mathematical possibility and while there's that chance we're going to give it everything we've got," Carle told Fox Sports after the game.
"We all do feel that we've left the run late, but we've still got that chance so we're going to give it all we've got."
Even if the Sky Blues fail to reach the top six, Carle was enthused by his side's form in 2011 ahead of their AFC Champions League campaign starting in early March.
"Our form has been quite good since the turn of the year," he said.
"We've had three wins and two draws, we're playing some good football, hopefully we can continue that going and take that into the Champions League."
Glory interim coach Ian Ferguson said: "It's very disappointing. I think since I've been here that's probably the worst I've seen us play in a long time.
"We have probably dismantled again what we built up 12 weeks ago. We are back to where we were."
Perth defender Naum Sekulovski said his side's performance was not acceptable as they slipped to their third consecutive defeat and sixth loss at home this season.
"We've got to play much better at home. That's not acceptable. It was a little bit better in the second-half, but it wasn't good enough," he said.
"We just weren't there in the first-half, we stepped it up ever so slightly in the second-half but that was pretty much it."
