SYDNEY FC are putting Gabon striker Gilles Mbang Ondo through his paces as Vitezslav Lavicka looks to boost his firepower options.
Born in Libreville, Gabon, Mbang Ondo comes to Sydney FC after playing the last three seasons for club side UMF Grindavik in the Úrvalsdeild Karla - the Iceland First Division. He was the competition's leading scorer in 2010 with 15 goals in 22 appearances.
Mbang Ondo, who has a French passport, began his career in 1999 with Paris Saint-Germain before moving to AJ Auxerre in 2004. After a short stint with Auxerre B, he joined Austrian club SC Eisenstadt for the 2007/08 season before signing with UMF.
In his three seasons in Iceland, Mbang Ondo scored 33 goals in 55 matches.
Mbang Ondo has also represented the Gabon National team - ranked 39th in the world - on six occasions.
