SYDNEY FC striker Mark Bridge has been ruled out of this weekend's clash with Gold Coast United due to a stomach strain and is no certainty to return for the following encounter.
It has been a largely frustrating season so far for Bridge in a hugely depressing campaign for the Sky Blues up to this point.
Bridge and his teammates saw spirits lifted by the 2-1 win over Newcastle but now the forward is facing more agony.
"The doctor has diagnosed a stomach strain that we think might be a result of over-compensating for a tight groin," Bridge told The Daily Telegraph.
"Originally I was only supposed to miss the Newcastle game, but if I do any sprinting or kicking I get pain. I'm out this weekend and the physio doesn't want me doing any serious running until next week at least.
"This season has been one big ball of frustration - first a hamstring then the adductor problem, now this."
