With a bye in the NYL, young sky blues are looking ahead to a clash with Perth Glory on November 15 at Sutherland's Seymour Shaw Park.

And for 20-year-old Sydney striker Brendan Gan, it'll be homecoming for the former Sutherland Sharks player who spent nine seasons in the Shire.

"We all come pretty much from the state league so we all know each other as player. We've played against each other and seen each other play," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

The Marton Hammers junior was part of Sutherland Sharks Premier League squad which lost to Wollongong Wolves in the recent NSW grand final.

And coming from the state leagues, even the smallish crowds that are on hand for the youth league games seem huge to Gan and his teammates.

"I've never had a crowd like this, even in state league. It's awesome," he said after last week's win over the Central Coast at the SFS.

"It's so good, so enjoyable to play in front of these crowds for such a great club. It's awesome."

Gan scored an equalizer last week in Sydney's come-from-behind 2-1 win over the young Mariners, who had experienced heads Andre Gumprecht, Greg Owens and Andrea Merenda in their line-up.

NSWIS student Kerem Bulut, 16, scored the late winner for the home side.

"We ran over them in the end in the second half," says Gan. "Kerem, he's come up from the NSWIS and it's good to have the young boys train with us and for them to have an impact."

And Gan hopes he and his teammates can use the NYL as a launching pad to excite even bigger crowds in the first team.

"I'm always looking to get into the first team which you always want to do. If I get a chance, I'll take it."

Meanwhile, Sydney fans get a chance to see these stars of tomorrow again when they play a friendly against Tasmania youth at the SFS on Friday night (kick off 5.15pm).
