Lavicka's contract with the A-League champions is up in March, 2011.

But with an Asian Champions League campaign beginning that month, Lugt says a concrete deal is still on the cards to tie down the former Sparta Prague coach who won the A-League double in his first season

"I think his family loves it here which is very important," Lugt told au.fourfourtwo.com today. "So I don't know, we don't know yet.

"But the moment that Vitya says, 'I want to stay longer', we say, 'Well, we sign you up today.'"

Another attraction, hoped Lugt, is the long-term ambition of the club as they seek to implement their winning philosophy and boost the sky blue fan-base.

"We've never made a secret of it that we'd love to have him here for a longer period," said the former chief executive of the Netherlands Football Association.

"Because we think it's instrumental to build the club and you don't want to change coaches every year or second year - which has happened in the past.

"We're working on building and developing a football philosophy and a long-term philosophy and to find a structure.

"And we've got a coach who's co-developed our philosophy and we also want him to roll it out and give us the full benefit of it."

The double-winning Lavicka returned to Sydney last Friday after a month in Prague.

And encouragingly for Lugt, he sounded very much like a man who'd like to stay in Sydney - although he didn't confirm any extension would be signed just yet.

"My family [in the Czech Republic] know about Australia because we kept in touch by Skype," said Lavicka.

"But a lot of people are interested in my professional [career] here as a coach and generally living in Australia and Sydney.

"When I came back this Friday early morning I really had a good feeling. It was early morning, the sun was shining and it was a nice feeling.

"Sydney's a beautiful city and people around me [at Sydney FC] are professional and nice."

He added: "I know how difficult it is to win back-to-back.

"But I like my job and the people here in Sydney FC - I had a very good feeling last season with people around me who have strong leadership and very positive character.

"That's all what I like."
