New Brisbane Roar signing Adam Taggart has spoken publicly for the first time since his tumultuous move from Perth Glory.
This week Taggart drew one of the heartiest responses of the season, but it wasn't for a cracking goal, rather a sudden departure to Brisbane Roar that had Perth Glory owner, Tony Sage fuming.
Sage called the 24-year-old striker a "liar" and claimed he had "blindsided" the club with a "two finger salute."
Taggart had undergone a lengthy injury rehabilitation at Glory before rediscovering form at the end of the season, contributing nine goals in 14 starts.
Rather less controversial in his statement made through the PFA, Taggart said he was anxious coming off contract, and wanted to thank Perth fans for their support.
"It is important for me to publicly thank the fans of Perth Glory, the coaching staff and my teammates for the time I spent with the club," Taggart said.
"Coming off contract is an anxious period for any player and I kept the club up to date with my decision-making over the past month or so.
"On Monday afternoon, club management was informed of my decision to join Brisbane Roar, which will give me a chance to work under John Aloisi. John is a fantastic coach who has a great record of developing young strikers.
"I feel as though I need a new challenge in a fresh environment and Brisbane can provide that."
