The Scottish Premier League club went into the round-of-16 second leg in Turin needing a miracle after a 3-0 loss at Parkhead in the opener, but ended up losing the return fixture 2-0.

It appears Ambrose's preparations for the key clash were not ideal after he missed the team bus from the hotel ahead of training and was left to catch up in a taxi.

Ambrose, who has been disciplined by the club, started the match on the bench, but Lennon said the player's lateness did not influence his matchday selection.

"There was disciplinary action taken against him but it wouldn't have affected the team selection (for the game)," Lennon said.

Ambrose replaced Victor Wanyama at half-time during the loss at Juventus Stadium after the midfielder picked up a hamstring problem.

Celtic were defeated by an efficient display from the Italian giants, who netted once in each half on Wednesday to cruise into the quarter-finals.

Ambrose started the first leg last month despite arriving in Glasgow from the Africa Cup of Nations only hours before the game, and proceeded to endure a nightmare performance, playing a direct role in two of the three goals Celtic conceded at Parkhead.
