The Mariners have hardly played at home so far this season, with a match in Canberra and just two matches at Central Coast Stadium in their first eight fixtures. The yellow and navy blue will host the Wanderers at their Gosford venue this Saturday.

Tavares said it is nice to have home advantage again and the midfielder believes Western Sydney's large fanbase, which are expected to travel up the F3 in big numbers, will work in the Mariners' favour.

"We're looking forward to this, it's always better when the people come to see you," he said.

"You get more motivation and at home you feel stronger. This will help us a lot this weekend. I just think its just good for the fans, for the club, for everyone to enjoy the game with a big crowd.

"It's always easier when you sleep at home before the game [too], you don't have to travel. You feel much more fresh and you've got legs to give 100%. It's important now to get points at home because people forget the first seven games we only had one game at home.

"It was a little bit tough for us. Now things are changing. The teams have to understand it's not going to be easy when they come here to take points. You can feel it, like the boys are very confident. Everything is going to be alright."

Western Sydney come into the game after a 1-1 draw with Brisbane Roar. The Wanderers are in seventh place on the ladder and have only won one game this season, but Tavares isn't underestimating them.

"They're a team that is very good," he said.

"We know the Wanderers have some good players. We know their strength and their weakeness, so we're going to try and work on it and see what happens."

The Central Coast upset Perth Glory last weekend 2-0. The victory pushed them up to sixth place on the A-League table, one point above Western Sydney.

Tavares said the Mariners were confident they could string back-to-back victories, the first time time the club has done so in several years.

"I think the morale is pretty good," the former Sydney FC man said.

"It was good to win, it makes your week easier. Hopefully we're going to continue. The spirit in the team is very good so all the boys are helping each other and you can see that on the pitch. Week after week we improve."
