Bojan will become Spain's youngest full international should he feature in next week's friendly against France.

And Bojan, who only made his professional debut this season, admits he is surprised by the speed of his rise to national recognition.

"Everything is happening very quickly," he said. "But I am happy."

The Spanish-born star also insisted he never had any doubt about where his international career lay, despite the possibility of playing for his father's country Serbia.

"I couldn't ask for more," added Bojan.

"But now I have to be calm.

"The national side has given me everything. From the first moment I made it clear that I would accept the call-up.

"I'm not going to think about the European Championships because I want to take advantage of the moment."

If Bojan steps on to the pitch against France on February 6, he will win his first cap aged 17 years, five months and six days, thus breaking Angel Zubieta's long-standing record (set in 1936) by four months.

And, while Aragones said it was his spectacular form for Barcelona that earned him a call-up, the Spain boss also admitted that the possibility of the teenager playing for Serbia was also at the back of his mind.

"He is playing very well and it is for that reason he is here," said Aragones. "As for Euro 2008 we shall see later.

"He has the ability for an impressive future.

"But the prospect of him playing for Serbia was also part of our thinking.

"He is still part of the under-21s and he is a very interesting player for the future."

Real Madrid star Raul, who has been enjoying a great season with the Primera Liga leaders, is once again left out of the squad.

But Aragones has included veteran midfielder David Albelda, despite him being ostracised and overlooked at Valencia by coach Ronald Koeman.

"A coach does not cut off his nose to spite his face and always calls up those he believes are the best or are in the best form," he added.

"Because that's what's good for the team.

"The only thing I can do is keep my mind fresh when the time comes to decide and select and, afterwards, be lucky in having done so because, at the end of the day, the person who is at risk the most is the one who chooses the team.

"Albelda is in because he has been part of the group, he has regularly been with us and given us results.

"Even though he has not played for a while he can be useful for us, even if not for 90 minutes, in the game against France."
