AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato is hoping to represent Brazil at the Beijing Olympics this summer but would hate to miss out on the start of his club's Champions League campaign.
The 18-year-old has established himself as a regular in Milan's line-up this season and made his international debut in a friendly against Sweden in March.
However, the Olympics in August clash with the Champions League third qualification round and Pato could find himself at the centre of a club versus country row.
"It would be a shame to miss the first Champions League games because I would have liked to give my contribution in both competitions," Pato told Corriere dello Sport.
"I don't know yet whether I will be selected for Beijing, but naturally I hope so.
"Brazil have never won a gold medal in football and to get one would mean entering the history books."
