To see behind the scenes at today's training session...

“It's all a bit sudden but I've got to take it in my stride,” he said after training this morning.

"This came as a bit of a shock, there's only one camp so I've got to make the most of it.

“I'm trying not to think about it too much, I just want to sort of force my way into the squad and hopefully forget about the pressures.”

National coach Pim Verbeek was obviously impressed with the 18-year-old. “If he's good enough, he's old enough. He was an unknown four weeks ago but now he's a regular in his club side and scoring goals in the A-League.”

The Newcastle Jets youngster has done what few players do – go directly to the national team skipping the Olyroos. Although he's obviously also now on the radar of Graham Arnold.

“I haven't really had a session with the Olyroos yet so that would be top of the list for me to push for. My goal at the start of the season was to push my way into the Olympic team.”

As for what he was told by Verbeek, he added: “I wasn't told anything in particular. We just had some team meetings.”
