The Reds, who have been in exceptional form this season, clinched the Premiership in style with some exceptional football under the watchful eye of former Socceroo Ante Milicic, though a two week hiatus found the side wanting against Sutherland Sharks last weekend, sending the Reds into a Preliminary Final showdown against stern rival Marconi Stallions.

Sydney United seemed in complete control against the Sharks leading 2-0, though a penalty, and some very quick ball movement by the League's fittest outfit, saw the Seymour Shaw side run down the Reds, leaving Joe Vrkic & Co. with a very delicate encounter this Sunday.

Player/coach Ante Milicic's experience, along with longtime teammate and good friend David Zdrilic, will be vital for the side this weekend, as will the hard work out of midfield of Todd Brodie, Mitchell Thompson and Davor Bajsic. The latter is arguably one of the most skillful players in the competition, though concern does surround his effectiveness on what will be a horrible playing surface on Sunday.

Sydney United's strengths have revolved around a very solid defensive line, and Joe Vrkic will need to lead the line ahead of young gun shot-stopper Vedran Janjetovic.

The Stallions will enter the encounter with nothing to lose, as their form seems to be coming good after a lengthy end of season slump. Coach Lee Sterrey has re-found the exploits of Ali Al-Hilfi, along with Vamara Diarra's predatory instincts in-front of goal. The Stallions outplayed Manly United FC in their Minor semi-final encounter, and despite not scoring in the regular 90' minutes, the side continued to fight in extra-time to twice find the back of the net. The experience of veterans Vuko Tomasevic in defence with captain Nahuel Arrarte will be immense for the side, in a match where the Stallions will fancy their chances following Sydney United's precarious state after a home loss against the Sharks.

With their respective seasons at stake, both sides are expected to leave nothing in their tanks on Sunday afternoon at Sydney United Sports Centre.
