An impressive West Sydney Berries' opening round display has set the level of expectation amongst supporters, and anything less than a win will not be accepted on Saturday evening when the team hosts Penrith-Nepean United.

The Berries overcame a sluggish start against Sydney Olympic to steam-roll their more fancied rivals with captain Aheleas Kotsopoulos a stand-out performer.

Penrith-Nepean will have their work cut out with the relatively new squad eager to bounce back following a first-up loss at Marconi.

At Marconi Stadium, the Stallions will have Manly United in their second consecutive home match. The Stallions looked sluggish at times against Penrith-Nepean, though coach Lee Sterrey's influence at this early point of the campaign saw the Stallions grind out the result and take the points. Manly United will be without Andrew Mailer through suspension leaving coach Phil Moss with some reshuffling amongst his ranks. In-attack, the presence of Robbie Cattanach will again be key to Manly's chances of a successful Bossley Park visit.

2008 Grand-Finalists Sutherland Sharks will grace Seymour Shaw for the first time this season as Blacktown City aim to bounce back from a disappointing home loss against Sydney United. The Sharks failed to overcome a tough Manly United outfit in Round 1, though the Demons' defence did not pose such a barrier in their opener. The Demons will require the experience of Luke Casserly in defence, meanwhile Chris Bedzo and Nick Sama will need to fire out of midfield and in attack.

Robbie Stanton will be without influential midfielder Nick Stavroulakis for up to seven weeks after the former Australian youth international tore his groin in two spots in the Sharks' round 1 clash against Manly United. Stavroulakis has started immediate rehabilitation and is focusing on getting back onto that pitch as soon as possible

On Sunday afternoon Wollongong Community FC will be eager to continue the good form displayed against Bankstown City Lions in Round 1, despite the side leaving Jensen Park with no points to show for their efforts, when they host Bonnyrigg White Eagles. Coach Tony Pace will again call upon his more experienced players to lead the inexperienced group, though the signs are extremely positive following the opening Round.

Bonnyrigg White Eagles couldn't have wished for a better start to their Round 1 fixture as they took the lead within 60'' seconds of kick-off against the Sydney Tigers. The match did not unwind in the manner Bonnyrigg had hoped as two red cards to key players made their task impossible. Coach Blagoja Kulevski will require a much more disciplined display from his players against Wollongong.

A shock opening Round loss will be all the motivation Sydney Olympic will require against a red-hot Sydney Tigers at Belmore Sports Ground. The Blues were left stunned as local rivals West Sydney Berries got the better of them last weekend, though the pre-season expectation amongst the players and supporters remains high.

Sydney Tigers' impressive pre-season rolled over into the League last weekend, and coach Paul Okon will be faced with his first big test as Sydney Tigers coach.

In the final match of the Round, more than three-points will be on the line as Sydney United face Bankstown City Lions at Sydney United Sports Centre in the first-leg of the 'Zarko Odzakov Cup'. The Cup will be played over two legs on an annual basis in honour of former Socceroo and Sydney Croatia great, Zarko Odzakov; with the return match to be played in the reverse fixture later in the season. Both sides enjoyed first round victories with Sydney United the more convincing with a clinical display in-front of goal.

The Lions will need to have their scoring boots on following another disappointing performance in-front of goal, even though the side continues to play a neat passing game and managed to take the points against Wollongong Community FC in Round 1.
