Widespread reports emerged on Tuesday that the clubs have agreed on a deal in the region of €17.8 million (£15m) to take Tevez to the Juventus Stadium.

Antonio Conte has led the Turin side to consecutive Serie A titles, but a lack of firepower has seen Juve fail in Europe, as they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of last season's UEFA Champions League.

The Bosman signing of Fernando Llorente has already been secured, and Tevez now looks set to join the giant Spanish striker in a new-look Juventus front line.

Tevez scored 17 goals in 39 appearances for City last term, as they endured a poor season, finishing a distant second to Manchester United in the Premier League, losing the FA Cup final to Wigan, and being eliminated from the Champions League at the group phase.

Those performances resulted in Roberto Mancini's sacking, with Manuel Pellegrini brought in to lead the 2012 Premier League champions' bid for silverware next term.

The Chilean has wasted little time in adding to his squad, with the signings of Fernandinho and Jesus Navas from Shakhtar Donetsk and Sevilla respectively, costing in excess of £50m.

That outlay will be offset somewhat by the expected departure of one of the club's reported highest earners.

Tevez signed for City after a complicated three-year spell that saw him turn out for Manchester United and West Ham, despite being majoritively owned by Media Sports Investment, run by agent Kia Joorabchian.

City spent a reported £25m to buy out Tevez's registration rights, and he was installed as captain under Mancini, lifting the FA Cup in 2011.

But the Italian and Argentinian's relationship soured notably, and reached breaking point in a Champions League tie at Bayern Munich in September 2011, when Mancini accused Tevez of refusing to come off the bench.

That resulted in Tevez spending six months out of first-team affairs, until his return late in the campaign, as City secured a memorable first top-flight title in 44 years.

He has scored 13 goals in 62 appearances for Argentina, but has not featured for his national side since the 2011 Copa America.

His expected move to Juventus, which appears set to be confirmed following a medical later this week, could signal the Serie A club dropping their pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain, with the Real Madrid forward thought to have been deciding between a switch to either the Turin club or Arsenal.
