THE future of Carlos Tevez remains in doubt following Manchester United's Barclays Premier League title triumph yesterday.
Tevez was given a rousing reception when he was substituted during the goalless draw with Arsenal which secured the championship, and after refusing to commit to the Red Devils immediately after the match he was then quoted criticising the Old Trafford hierarchy on Argentinian television.
The striker will not be short of suitors should he opt to leave and here PA Sport takes a look at where he might end up this summer.
REAL MADRID
The 25-year-old has been linked to the Bernabeu giants ever since he slipped down the United pecking order following Dimitar Berbatov's arrival in Manchester. He hardly doused the fires of speculation in January when he said: "Who wouldn't want to play for Real Madrid?... it would be a pleasure to play for them." Would even Real be able to afford him, however, if they complete the widely-anticipated, world-record signing of team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo?
MANCHESTER CITY
Tevez has claimed he hopes to stay in the Barclays Premier League, and interestingly has lumped City in with established giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea as possible destinations. They certainly have the petro-dollars available to take him to Eastlands, but even though Robinho has optimistically claimed City can be champions by 2011, last weekend's derby showed the yawning chasm that still exits between the Manchester clubs.
INTER MILAN
The striker's national team boss, Diego Maradona, described the San Siro as an "excellent solution" to Tevez's lack of action this season. Coach Jose Mourinho is an obvious draw and the Italians have the ambition to take on Europe. However, Serie A now lags far behind the Premier League and La Liga in terms of quality and prestige, and would he be happy to play second fiddle, at least initially, to the enigmatic Zlatan Ibrahimovic?
CHELSEA
With Liverpool and Arsenal unlikely to stump up the reported £25million asking price, the Blues might be the most realistic 'big four' option. Didier Drogba's future is unclear and Tevez could provide a bustling foil to the more nonchalant Nicolas Anelka. Any move would be dependent on the identity of Chelsea's replacement for Guus Hiddink and, probably, revenue generated by the sale of Drogba.
BAYERN MUNICH
The Bavarians need to clinch a place in next season's Champions League to have a prayer. However, their France winger Franck Ribery has been linked to United as a potential replacement for Ronaldo, should he leave for Spain, in which eventuality money would not be a stumbling block. The hugely well-attended Bundesliga is also shedding its reputation as the poor relation to Europe's big three leagues, making its clubs a more attractive proposition.
