Thailand striker Sarayud Chaikumdee has been axed from Chanvit Pholchovin's AFC Asian Cup squad after failing to impress during a training camp in Germany.
Sarayud, who plays for Vietnam'sBinh Dinh, was named in the initial 30-man squad last week, but will not be considered for Chanvit final 23-man party for July's competition.
The Asian Cup co-hosts, who have been drawn in Group A alongside Australia, Iraq and Oman, will return to Bangkok on Monday after playing several warm-up matches against German club sides.
"Sarayud hasn't performed to the required standard," Chanvit told the Bangkok Post.
"However, if he improves in the future then he may be able to play for the national team again."
Binh Dinh's Nirut Surasiang, Singapore Armed Force's Therdsak Chaiman, Tampines' Sutee Suksomkit and Hoang Anh Gia Lai's Datsakorn Thonglao will link up with the team after missing the trip to Germany due to club commitments.
