A look at round four of the A-League, headlined by Western United's thrilling comeback win over Melbourne Victory.
THEY SAID IT
"This'll be a game I believe in 10 or 15 years' time where we can look back as a football club and it's quite a defining moment as far as I'm concerned." - Western United coach Mark Rudan on his team's comeback win over Melbourne Victory.
MAN OF THE ROUND
With Western United trailing early against Melbourne Victory, Scott McDonald took the game by the scruff of the neck and helped his team earn all three points, playing a crucial role in the equaliser before powering home the winning goal.
STAT ATTACK
With his cheeky flick in Sydney FC's win over Newcastle, Adam Le Fondre has now scored a goal against every A-League club he's played. Just Western United to go.
TALKING POINT
Wellington's Louis Fenton couldn't believe it when he gave away a penalty for handball, after Denis Genreau's cross hit his chest, with the ball then rebounding onto his arm. Craig Noone's spot-kick gave Melbourne City a 3-1 lead and they ultimately won 3-2. Post-match, Fenton told Fox Sports exactly what he thought: "100 per cent no pen because it doesn't even f***ing hit my hand. It's f***ed."
BEAT THAT
Melbourne City full-back Scott Galloway doesn't score many goals, but when he does, they're usually something special. He gave his side the lead against Wellington with a sublime strike - cutting inside onto his left foot before unleashing a powerful shot that clattered off the inside of the post then nestled in the opposite corner of the net.
UNDER PRESSURE
Melbourne Victory looked to have turned the corner with a win over Brisbane Roar but their capitulation against Western United after taking a 2-0 lead is a big blow to the confidence. Meanwhile the Roar remain winless after their first three games, while Wellington have zero points from four games
INJURIES
Wanderers key men Pirmin Schwegler (calf) and Matt Jurman both suffered soft tissue injuries against Brisbane. Victory skipper Ola Toivonen hurt his ankle but played out the game against Western United, while Kristijan Dobras came off with a knock. Perth's off-season recruit Osama Malik was substituted off with a hamstring injury.
WHAT'S NEXT
Western Sydney head to Geelong to take on Western United in what shapes as a tantalising match of the round. Melbourne City will host the resurgent Mariners on Friday night, while Perth will travel to Newcastle on Saturday. Melbourne Victory will look to bounce back when they host the Phoenix on Sunday, then winless Brisbane Roar face the imposing task of Adelaide United at Coopers Stadium.

Why do we have VAR in this league, if we donβt have competent, capable or adequate people making said decisions in the VAR box. ππππππ #MCYvWEL #aleague

Most ridiculous VAR decision I've seen for a while . Clearly hit Fenton in chest first, was never going to defy physics and for goalward. Absolutely ripped off , Nix.. #MCYvWEL

Totally justified blow up by Louis Fenton - heβll probably get fined for it and once again, football will have shot itself in the foot. #MCYvWEL

WOW, Fenton goes large on the f-words in the post game live on telly. That was awkward with the kids watching along.#MCYvWEL

FMD @CCMariners did it. What a nail biting game. What belief. Deserved victory for their hard work. And to boot Alen Stajcic gets a belated birthday present. Well done Mariners. Happy for the Club & fans. This is the dedication you deserve from your players. π #PERvCCM #aleague
