A look at the top seeds and their group stage draws for the 2023 Women's World Cup, hosted in Australia and New Zealand.
* GROUP A: NEW ZEALAND, NORWAY, PHILIPPINES, SWITZERLAND - based in NZ
NEW ZEALAND - World ranking: 22, coach: Jitka Klimkova, captain: Ali Riley
The Football Ferns aren't going to win the World Cup, but they are going to enjoy bumper crowds at a World Cup on home soil. New Zealand's isolation makes it hard to even play at home - they last competed in front of home fans in 2018. Therefore, their goal is to win a match at a World Cup for the first time, and with the benefit of their top seeding, are every chance to do so. Doing it in the opening match against Norway will be tough - the Philippines is their best chance.
* GROUP B: AUSTRALIA, IRELAND, NIGERIA, CANADA - based in Australia
AUSTRALIA - World ranking: 13, coach: Tony Gustavsson, captain: Sam Kerr
Hit by possibly the worst possible draw, particularly with Canada, but the combination of a fired-up Sam Kerr in front of sold-out home crowds will be a frightening prospect for any opponent. For Australia, timing is everything. The form isn't there - at the moment - but hopes remain that Gustavsson can build on two friendly wins this month and grow momentum. With less depth than other nations, Australia's big hitters must also stay fit.
* GROUP C: SPAIN, COSTA RICA, ZAMBIA, JAPAN - based in NZ
SPAIN - World ranking: 6, coach: Jorge Vilda, captain: Jennifer Hermoso
Boasting two-time Ballon d'Or winner Alexia Putellas, Spain have bolted into the sport's heavyweights in recent years. Missing their two biggest stars - Putellas and Hermoso - at the Euros, La Roja still pushed England to extra time in their quarter-final. However, their biggest issue - and a genuine concern - is a stand-off between coach and much of the squad that has led to mass walkouts. They have drawn a weak group - but it must be resolved.
* GROUP D: ENGLAND, PLAYOFF B, DENMARK, CHINA - based in Australia
ENGLAND - World ranking: 4, coach: Sarina Wiegman, captain: Leah Williamson
Fresh from European glory on home soil, the Lionesses are roaring and ready for 2023, and will have no fears from their group opponents. England plucked Wiegman as their coach after she led the Netherlands into the last World Cup final, which should be England's aim this time around - something they have never done. The FA Women's Super League's growth has supercharged their development, making stars like Fran Kirby, Keira Walsh, Lucy Bronze and Beth Mead household names in England.
* GROUP E: UNITED STATES, VIETNAM, NETHERLANDS, PLAYOFF A - based in NZ
UNITED STATES - World ranking: 1, coach: Vlatko Andonovski, captain: Becky Sauerbrunn
The perma-favourites are two-time reigning champions and will arrive in 2023 hungry for an unprecedented three straight. Have never finished lower than third in eight editions, though there are more question marks than usual over the mighty USWNT. Retired great Carli Lloyd called the side one in transition. A 13-match winning streak this year was broken in two friendlies this month against England and a second-tier Spain. They could hit a cricket score against Vietnam but will not relish a 2019 World Cup final rematch with the Netherlands.
* GROUP F: FRANCE, JAMAICA, BRAZIL, PLAYOFF C - based in Australia
FRANCE - World ranking: 5, coach: Corinne Diacre, captain: Wendie Renard
Les Bleues arrived in this year's Euros on an 11-match winning streak and were shaded by Germany in the semi-finals, prolonging their wait for a tournament win. Still, the French boast the biggest club side in the world - Olympique Lyonnais - and one of the game's best leaders in Wendie Renard. The 2019 hosts have a tricky test in Brazil early, but will be a popular outside chance.
* GROUP G: SWEDEN, SOUTH AFRICA, ITALY, ARGENTINA - based in NZ
SWEDEN - World ranking: 2, coach: Peter Gerhardsson, captain: Caroline Seger
Blessed with talent and depth across the pitch, the Swedes sit one place below the Americans and love the big stage. The world No.2 have made the final of the last two Olympics and have made the semi-finals or better at more Euros and World Cups than they don't. Arsenal striker Stina Blackstenius is their biggest star, and skipper Seger their heartbeat. Should top the group but the race for second is open.
* GROUP H: GERMANY, MOROCCO, COLOMBIA, SOUTH KOREA - based in Australia
GERMANY - World ranking: 3, coach: Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, captain: Alexandra Popp
Germany are seeking a second golden era, after dominating the game around the turn of the century when they won two World Cups and six straight Euros. It hasn't quite fallen into place since - beaten finalists in this year's Euros and quarter-finalists at the 2019 World Cup. However, you can't doubt their quality, led by Popp, and emerging stars like Lena Oberdorf, the young player of the Euros. Should coast to the round of 16.
