Young midfielder Nathan Konstandopoulos continued his breakout season with a goal in Adelaide United's 3-1 home win over Wellington Phoenix on Friday night.
A point blank header by Johan Absalonsen was all the separated the teams going into the sheds but the Reds lived up to their reputation as second half specialists.
Two quick fire goals by Ben Garuccio (61') and Nathan Konstandopoulos (63') sealed the result in front of nearly 12,000 fans.
A late penalty by Wellington's Logan Rogerson (84') was small consolation for Wellington who have firmed for the wooden spoon.

Konstandopoulos, has made 12 starts this season and notched his second goal with some neat footwork in the build up.
The result puts Marco Kurz's men back into the top four and adds pressure on both Melbourne clubs, City and Victory, who sit one point either side of the Reds.

"I was lucky to get in the right area and the boys found me," Konstandopoulos told Fox Sports post match.
"I saw a few of the players sliding in, blocking the shots, that was the only option I had. When you're young that's what you do - it's natural with me."

Back-to-back wins put the Reds in a competitive position for securing a home final but they'll need to finish strongly on the road.
"The boss said at the starrt of the year said that it's a process, stick to the structures and the results will come" Konstandopoulos added.
"We work together as a team, we work hard at training every day, the results are coming and we know we're in good form heading into the finals."
The former Brisbane Roar player was never going to be content as a bit player this season, and praised Kurz for taking his game to another level.
"He just gives me so much confidence," he said. "He believes in me and always says to me, you've got the talent, you've got the ability to do it.
"And it's now about me believing that myself. He's shown faith in me and I've shown faith in him by working hard every day."
