RHYS Williams wore his heart on his sleeve as Socceroo stars met the press at the launch of the provisional 31-man Australian squad for the World Cup.

I'll play in goal, in the centre, up front, anywhere as long as I can get a game. As long as I play I'm happy. It'll be a dream come true.
It's been a whirlwind year really. I played for Wales for my Grandad but wasn't too happy when I got to the first team and obviously always wanted to play for my country. I was just so pleased it's happened like this and I'm in the provisional squad.
I wish I was with Australia from the start, that's how proud I am to play for my country and I just can't wait.
We're a tight group so I feel sorry for those who've missed out. But Pim's done the right thing, he's picked the players who are playing and I'm sure his selection will show everyone he's right. He's still got to cut eight players so there's plenty of hard work left.
I'll ring Brad [Jones] to congratulate him, I'm sure he's on a beach somewhere for a few days. So I'll give him a ring and see how he is.
New Zealand will be a massive game, everyone will be on show.
Nicky Carle
I got a text from Gary Moretti [Socceroo team manager]. The wife and the kids knew but apart from that we tried to keep it as quiet as we can. This year has been the season where I've worked extremely hard to make sure whenever I'd get a call up I'd be right to go. Hard work does pay off.
And you know going into camp the squad's got to be reduced so you just want to take it from a personal point of view that you do everything right. The English Championship is one of the quickest leagues I've played in - it's from one end to another. I've learnt a lot from my past two and a half seasons there.
Every time you got into camp everyone steps up and it's intense. National team training is always high intensity and everyone wants to prove they should be there so it'll be a good few weeks to make sure the coaching staff do see who will jump on the plane.
Richard Garcia
I'm really proud. It's now down to hard work. The Melbourne game [against New Zealand] will be one full of great displays. I'm something different type that maybe we've got. That's probably got me the position. I play a little more direct than other players which might be a strength of mine.
Tommy Oar
To get the phone call was a great moment. Most people who were saying those things [about possible selection] were the media and not really Pim so I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't getting my hopes up but I was just waiting for that final call. So we'll see what happens. I'm just looking forward to the experience of the training camp [but] I'm not getting ahead of myself.
