The Bundesliga giants have targeted Van Gaal as the man they want to replace Jurgen Klinsmann, but his current side AZ Alkmaar are unwilling to release him from his contract.

The former Ajax and Barcelona boss is tied to the newly-crowned Eredivisie champions until 2010 and AZ president Dirk Scheringa has made it clear in no uncertain terms he has no intention of letting him go.

"Louis van Gaal has a contract with AZ Alkmaar until 2010 and we hope that he fulfils it. There has been up until now no contact with Bayern and there is no get-out clause in his contract. There is nothing more to say at the moment," Scheringa's spokesman Klaas Wilting told www.bild.de.

Van Gaal is reported to have already agreed terms on a contract with Bayern, but Hoeness admits there is little more the Bavarians can do.

"Between him and us everything is clear, more or less," Hoeness said in Kicker.

But he added: "If what I read is true he is not coming. I believe the move at the moment is very much in danger."

Bayern are reportedly not prepared to pay any compensation to AZ to get their man and Hoeness admits they could be forced to look elsewhere.

"Should we not be able to do much, then we will have to think about the matter afresh," he said.
