Victorian Training Centre 0
Dandenong Thunder 6
(Veton Korcarevski (2), Chris Taylor, Luke Sherbon, Liam Kearny, Mathew Theodore)
@ George Andrews Reserve

DANDENONG Thunder continued their dream start to the season with a 6-0 thrashing of the Victorian Training Centre.

A double from striker Veton Korcarevski led the way as Thunder were too strong for their younger opponents.

In-form trio Chris Taylor, Luke Sherbon and Liam Kearny gave the home side the perfect start with goals in the opening 33 minutes.

Korcarevski struck either side of Mathew Theodore’s 54th-minute goal as Thunder ran out convincing winners, although the margin could have been even greater.

It was a third-straight loss for VTC as Thunder moved back to the top of the league.

Northcote City 0
Springvale White Eagles 0

@ John Cain Memorial Park

NORTHCOTE City failed to take a glorious chance to maintain their spot in the top five after being held to a 0-0 draw against Springvale White Eagles.

Chances were aplenty at John Cain Memorial Park but neither side could break the deadlock.

The White Eagles have drawn four of their five away games and moved out of the relegation zone.

Green Gully Cavaliers 0
Heidelberg United 1
(Osagie Ederaro)
@ Green Gully Reserve

GREEN Gully’s horror start to 2011 continued after they suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Heidelberg United.

A second-half penalty from Osagie Ederaro was enough to send the Cavaliers into the relegation zone with only seven points of a possible 27.

Ederaro was sent off for a second bookable offence but Gully did not have enough time to capitalise on their one-man advantage.

It was Heidelberg’s third win in their last four while the pressure on first-year Gully boss Lubo Lapsansky will only intensify.

Dandenong Thunder 1 (Liam Kearney)
Bentleigh Greens 1 (Adam Fadljevic)
@ George Andrews Reserve

BENTLEIGH Greens came within minutes of scoring an upset win over Dandenong Thunder, but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Liam Kearney scored the late equaliser as Thunder pinched a point and avoided losing their second game.

Adam Fadljevic had given the Greens the lead on the hour mark before Kearney struck late.

A win would have sent Bentleigh into the top five but they have at least remained in touch with the top five.

St Albans Saints 1 (Goran Jozeljic)
Melbourne Knights 1 (Ryan Filipovic)
@ Churchill Reserve

MELBOURNE Knights denied St Albans Saints their first win of the season after securing a last-gasp 1-1 draw.

Defender Ryan Filipovic stepped up to scramble home a 93rd minute equaliser and have the Knights leave with a point.

Saints attacker Goran Jozeljic had given his team the lead on the hour mark after he smashed home into the top corner following a chest down from Liam Cannell.

It was a decent start for both new Knights coach Paul Magdic and appointed Saints duo Joe Kovacevic (coach) and Vinko Buljubasic (football manager).

Richmond 0
Oakleigh Cannons 2
(Frankie Lagana, Dane Milovanovic)
@ Kevin Bartlett Reserve

A TWO-minute double salvo helped Oakleigh Cannons to a 2-0 win over Richmond.

Frankie Lagana and Dane Milovanovic struck back-to-back goals in the 35th and 36th minutes respectively as the Cannons recorded an important win.

The Eagles were a danger game for Oakleigh but they came away with the points to move into second spot.

Hume City 5 (Steven Weir (2), Richard Cardozo (2), Fabio Dilizia)
South Melbourne 0
@ Broadmeadows Valley Park

HUME City ended South Melbourne’s six-match unbeaten run in spectacular fashion, thumping their ANZAC Day Cup rivals 5-0.

The victory was revenge for the 6-0 shellacking South handed City in the corresponding clash last season.

But from the outset, the visitors were on the back foot and finished the day with nine men after both Jesse Krncevic and Ljubo Milicevic were sent off.

Richard Cardozo had put Hume ahead with a cracking strike before first Krncevic, for a behind the play incident, and then Milicevic, whose challenge was clumsy and high, were shown straight red cards.

Fabio Dilizia scrambled in Hume’s second goal after the free-kick Milicevic had given away.

Steven Weird struck twice early in the second half before Cardozo completed his brace to give Hume a brilliant win after last week’s shock loss to Bentleigh.

South drop to third but will enter the blockbuster clash against Dandenong after the Easter break without two of their key players.
