DANNY Tiatto and Charlie Miller are set for a return to action this weekend with the former eager to get stuck into Sydney FC.
Tiatto (broken toes) and Josh McCloughan (hamstring) are available after sitting out last night’s draw in Adelaide and could potentially be joined by Liam Reddy and Miller in the squad to face Sydney.
Speedster Tahj Minniecon is also a chance to be available for the match, despite pulling up sore following last night’s match.
Tiatto said he was looking forward to playing Sydney after missing the Adelaide match.
He said: “I’ll be right for the next two home games. I pulled up a little bit sore after the game against the Mariners with my toes.
“I would’ve then been definitely out for the weekend’s game if I had played last night. It just gives me a bit of extra time to get those right and be right for our two home games.”
The experienced midfielder shook off concerns that pain-killing injections might be required to get him through the match.
He said: “It always takes two or three weeks before they start healing properly but I haven’t really given them much rest so they’re a little bit niggly and uncomfortable.
“It won’t put me off my game at all, it just numbs my toes up a little bit. I won’t feel anything until after the game so they’ll be fine.”
The Queenslanders remain four points from top after they just failed to dent the Reds’ unbeaten home record last night, but Tiatto wasn’t giving up on the Premiership with two rounds remaining.
Tiatto said: “I thought it was a good result, going to Adelaide and getting a 0-0 score. It pretty much secures our place in the play-offs now.
“We’ll give it a good try, try to win our next two games and if results go for us there’s every chance we could go top.”
He said the team would take a lot of confidence from the draw last night.
“I thought the boys did really well and it’s a positive, especially against the team that’s the benchmark this season.
“The boys showed they’re good enough to go to Adelaide and get a point and also outplay them in general play.”
The former Socceroo was hoping for a big turnout to Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
Tiatto said: “I remember last year playing against Sydney we always got a big turnout and they’re a team that I think we’ve always been pretty excited to play against and try to beat.
“I think it should be a good turnout and we’re looking forward to getting a good result against them because Kossie (Sydney coach John Kosmina) has been talking it up in the press and making a big deal of the game so it’d be good to get one over Sydney.”
