THE Victorian Training Centre broke a nine-game losing run to upset the Oakleigh Cannons 3-2.
The Cannons would have expected to regain top spot with at least a point against the struggling youngsters, but it was not to be despite a bright start.
Recruit Richard Offiong gave them the lead barely 30 seconds into the encounter with his first goal of the season.
But a lovely passage from VTC set up Stipo Andrijasevic to level the scores midway through the half.
They were ahead barely five minutes later as Daniel Sweeney curled in a free kick to give his side the lead heading into the break.
Cannons striker Ricky Diaco levelled scores from the penalty spot, but Paulo Retre gave VTC an unlikely win when he hammered home a rebound after he had a spot-kick was saved.

ST Albans Saints broke their drought to record their first win of the season with a 5-2 victory over a 10-man Victorian Training Centre.
The Saints capitalised on their numerical advantage after Daniel Sweeney was red-carded in the opening minutes.
VTC again conceded inside the first minute as Saints attacker Goran Jozeljic made them pay for a defensive error.
St Albans were 3-0 up after a quarter of an hour as defender Neven Antic scored twice in the space of five minutes.
Veteran Danny Tiatto, playing his first game for the club, made it four just after the interval.
Daniel Visevic made it 5-0 before Luc Jeggo hit a brace to add some respectability to the scoreboard.
The Saints are nine points from safety, but have games against fellow strugglers Springvale and another clash with VTC to as their next two encounters.
Oakleigh Cannons 1 (Hayden Doyle)
Bentleigh Greens 0
@ Jack Edwards Reseve
OAKLEIGH Cannons moved back to the top of the table with a 1-0 win over the Bentleigh Greens.
Former Greens striker Hayden Doyle struck the only goal of the game just after the interval to end Bentleigh’s eight-game unbeaten run and inflict their first defeat under John Anastasiadis.
The Cannons had hit the bar through Richard Offiong in the first half and the win puts them three points clear of Hume, while Bentleigh are eighth and two points from the top five.
