Football Federation Australia today cited the Sydney and Roar players to appear before a disciplinary hearing this week.

McFlynn has been charged with "violent conduct in relation to a serious infringement that has escaped the referee’s attention," according to the FFA.

The incident involving McFlynn occurred in the 71st minute of the heated F3 derby between Sydney and Central Coast Mariners when he allegedly stomped on striker Nik Mrdja.

Tiatto has been charged with "serious foul play in relation to a serious infringement that has escaped the referee’s attention."

Tiatto went in hard on Adelaide's Richie Alagich just seven minutes into the match. He escaped a booking but fellow Roar debutante Craig Moore saw red and was sent off for two yellow card offences in the game.

Tiatto will face the hearing at 3pm on Thursday at the Football Federation Australia Headquarters in Sydney, followed an hour later by the McFlynn hearing.

Last night Roar defended Tiatto, with club CEO Lawrence Oudendyk insisting the referee's decision to ignore the challenge should stand.

“The incident in question was not an ‘off the ball’ incident that happened behind play, quite the opposite in fact," he said.

"The incident took place ‘on the ball’ as both players challenged for possession.

“Whether the decision of the officials at the time was right or wrong, we have to accept it because the referee’s decision is final.”
