ACT Academy of Sport Scholarship holder Alex Tilley has been named Coerver Coaching Academy Player of the Year at the academy awards graduation at the University of Canberra earlier this month.
In other awards David Burge was named Senior Academy Player of the Year while FFA Futsal National Championships U11 Most Valuable Player Alexia Karrys-Stahl took out the Coerver Academy Youth/Girls award.
Tilley was announced as the tenth recipient of the Coerver Coaching Academy Player of the Year, award following in the footsteps of Steven Lustica (now Young Socceroo and Gold Coast United) Tom Rogic (Nike Football Academy winner UK), and Sam Munro (Central Coast Mariners).
“Coerver Coaching ACT has come along way,” said Coerver Coaching’s Asia Pacific VP Jason Lancsar. “We started with just 15 players and one coach in 2000 at the first Coerver Coaching Academy. Our Academy now has over 160 players and ten coaches with increasing numbers of players missing out on the 2011 Coerver Academy after trials earlier in the year.
“The Coerver Academy is intensive, a highly technical skills based program, spread over six summer months, which prepares players for improved performance in all levels of the game. We take as much pleasure seeing a player gaining more confidence in their game in their local junior club or school team as we do when we hear a former player has made it into the A-League or overseas.”
