Kuwait won the West Asian Football Federation Championship by beating former champions Iran 2-1 in Jordan today.
Taking part in the competition for the first time, Kuwait opened the scoring after only 10 minutes of the final at the King Abdullah Stadium.
Abdulaziz Al Meshan grabbed the opening goal, striking a powerful first-time shot into the net following a cross from Fahad Al Enezi.
Iran tried to get back into the game but were hit with a second goal in the first minute of stoppage-time at the end of the first half, as Yousef Al Salman blasted home a shot from outside the penalty area.
It took Iran until the fifth minute of stoppage-time in the second half to score, as Milad Midavoudi headed in for what proved to be a consolation goal.
