In front of 18,923 fans, goals from Massimo Luongo and Juric guaranteed the three points for Australia as they push to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Just seconds after kick off Luzern striker Juric almost opened the scoring when his blasting shot forced a save from Mohammed Hameed.

Prior to the half hour mark there was a scare for the Socceroos when Ali Hisny Faisal looked through before Mark Milligan tracked back to make a goal saving tackle.

Two minutes later Australia nearly led as Brad Smith’s cross found Mathew Leckie in the box whose header struck the post.

At half-time it was goalless in Perth and the Socceroos looked nervous at times defensively.

Just over 10 minutes into the second term, Aaron Mooy’s sliding shot hit the crossbar as Australia began knocking on the door.

At the 57th minute Leckie’s low cross found Juric straight in front of goal, however made a howler with the finish.

A minute later Massimo Luongo showed how to finish from five yards out when Juric’s ball in assisted the Queens Park Rangers midfielder to make it 1-0.

An hour in and the Socceroos doubled their lead, Aaron Mooy’s corner landed to Juric in front of goal who poked it home.

Australia continued to surge forward when Tom Rogic nearly made it a three goal lead when his shot from close range forced another save from Hameed.

The Socceroos prevailed 2-0 in the west and now travel to Abu Dhabi to take on UAE on Wednesday (1.30am AEST).
