JAMES Troisi is still waiting to learn his Newcastle United fate while a move to Dutch club Roda JC has collapsed in confusion.
The 19-year-old has struggled for regular first team football at St James’ Park this season with Australia coach Pim Verbeek having urged the youngster to seek the best route to regular action.
Troisi, who impressed for the Socceroos during the 0-0 draw with Singapore last month, will meet with Magpies boss Kevin Keegan shortly.
The manager had expressed a desire to put talks on hold until Newcastle had banished any lingering relegation fears.
Top flight status is now secured and the pair will now sit down to discuss Troisi’s future.
Reports from Holland suggest that Eredivisie outfit Roda JC (once home to now Newcastle Jets coach Gary van Egmond) were keen to sign Troisi after he performed well in a trial spell recently.
However, some reports say a permanent deal will not happen due to the club’s unwillingness to pay a fee (because Troisi is under 23 he comes under the Bosman ruling and Newcastle can demand a compensation fee) while others said it was due to a lack of agreement on personal terms.
Troisi said recently: “I’ll have a chat with the manager about my future. I haven’t done that yet because we’ve been concentrating on staying up.
“I would like to play in the first team a bit more. It’s been tough, but maybe next season I can play some first-team football.
“Whether it will be on loan, I don’t know. I have to look at my options. We will have to wait and see what happens.”
