The 23-year-old loan signing from Marseille could be involved for the first time against Blackpool tomorrow as he and fellow new boys Cheik Tiote and Sol Campbell stake their claims.

Hughton said: "He is a very, very gifted footballer who can play anywhere across the frontline, although most people will have seen him play on the left. He is very gifted on the ball."

While Hughton is still enjoying his transfer market bounty, tomorrow's opposite number Ian Holloway is relieved the window has now closed.

The Blackpool boss has overhauled his playing staff in the summer after their surprise promotion to the top flight and said: "It is nice to have the squad settled.

"It is probably the hardest situation we ever faced. With the small amount of players we had it has been an absolute living nightmare.

"Now over the next four or five weeks we can try to bed this group in together. We've got 11 newcomers and I've got to get them used to what I do and how we do it."

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is confident new signing Benjani Mwaruwari's experience will prove to be a valuable asset for Rovers.

The 32-year-old Zimbabwean signed a one-year contract at Ewood Park last month after training with the club following his release by Manchester City at the end of last season.

Benjani, who could make his Rovers debut against his former club at Eastlands tomorrow, has spent the last four and a half years in the Premier League having initially joined Portsmouth from Auxerre in January 2006.

Allardyce said: "The lad's trained exceedingly hard and tried to get himself as fit as he could. Then he played at Arsenal in the reserves this week and scored.

"It's a good indication of us not giving up on the lad and hopefully giving him the right support to make sure he can turn out on the field as often as possible because he's a very experienced frontman to go with two inexperienced frontmen in Nikola Kalinic and Mame Diouf."

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is also hoping things settle down after the summer activity.

Following his side's very mixed start to the season, the Spaniard said ahead of Sunderland's visit: "We have many new players in our squad that we need to gel together, and the confidence after the result and performance we had against Tottenham (a 1-0 win) is a great platform to build on."

Elsewhere tomorrow Everton entertain Manchester United, Bolton go to Arsenal, Fulham and Wolves meet at Craven Cottage and West Brom host Tottenham.

London rivals West Ham and Chelsea square off at Upton Park while Sunday's action sees Birmingham at home to Liverpool. Gerard Houllier makes his bow as Aston Villa manager at Stoke on Monday.
