The perception of Harry’s time at Liverpool is that he simply rotted on the physio table and never fulfilled anywhere near his potential.

Well, to a certain extent that is true, but there were also glimpse of the magic which made him one of the greatest wingers to ever grace the English game.

Such a performance came as Liverpool took on Chelsea in the semi-final of the 2006 FA Cup. Liverpool used Kewell as they main attacking threat and he flourished with the responsibility. The tormenting he gave the Chelsea defence was one we have seen him dish out on several occasions before and since.

Harry started the game brightly, cutting in from the left with great effect. Chelsea were rattled and had no answer for the Socceroo legend’s attacking flair. Chelsea’s Ferreira and Geremi were tasked with keeping Harry quiet, but they couldn’t stop the irrepressible Aussie in what many believe was his greatest ever performance for Liverpool. Kewell stretched the game as Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners through goals for John Arne Riise and Luis Garcia.

In the final Liverpool would beat West Ham in a classic encounter, but none of it would have been possible without Harry’s semi-final masterclass.
