Here, Press Association Sport look back at some famous disagreements from World Cup history.

1. Roy Keane v Mick McCarthy (2002)

Republic of Ireland captain Keane was unimpressed with the squad's training facilities and their programme in the build-up to the tournament in Japan and South Korea. Keane said exactly what he thought in a meeting with McCarthy, after which he was sent home and replaced as skipper by Steve Staunton.

2. Ruud Gullit v Dick Advocaat (1994)

Gullit's decision not to travel to the World Cup in the United States was the culmination of a long-running feud with coach Dick Advocaat. He had already retired from international football once after being substituted by Advocaat, then did so again after the pair did not see eye to eye on tactics.

3. Zlatko Zahovic v Srecko Katanec (2002)

Perhaps inspired by Keane's antics, Zahovic let rip at coach Slovenia coach Katanec for substituting him in their opening match against Spain. He had some pretty unpleasant things to say to his coach and was promptly handed a plane ticket home.

4. Gregory Coupet v Raymond Domenech (2006)

Domenech has previous with this sort of thing. Before the last World Cup he so irritated goalkeeper Coupet when telling him he was below Fabien Barthez in the pecking order, the stopper packed his bags and threatened to leave the team's training camp. Domenech was more forgiving on that occasion. "He lost his head," he said, but welcomed him back.

5. Yazid Mansouri v Rabah Saadane (2010)

Anelka's histrionics were not even the first of this tournament. Algeria captain Mansouri was told he was not going to start his side's opener against Slovenia - and did not take the news well. He stormed off to his room and was in the process of packing his bags when officials persuaded him to change his mind.
