Spain striker Fernando Torres insists the collective good is more important than individual achievement ahead of Spain's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Latvia tonight.
Torres was hauled off after 57 minutes of Saturday's 1-1 draw in Iceland with his replacement Andres Iniesta netting a late equaliser.
The Liverpool star is adamant he was happy with coach Luis Aragones' decision as it paved the way for Spain to grab a vital point in Reykjavik.
He said: "The common objective is to be at Euro 2008.
"It was the decision of the coach. And in the end Iniesta got the goal which got us a point.
"The squad is more important than any player."
Torres is set to start the midweek clash in Oviedo and expects a much improved display from the Spanish, who find themselves level with second-placed Northern Ireland in Group F but three points behind pool leaders Sweden.
"The team knows how it must play," he added.
"It is necessary to keep the ball and get an early goal to avoid any problems."
Sweden are not in action tonight, which gives Spain and Northern Ireland the chance to make it a three-way tie at the top.
Northern Ireland visit Iceland with a doubt over record scorer David Healy.
The Fulham striker took a kick on the calf in training on Monday and would be a huge loss to coach Nigel Worthington if he fails a fitness test as they look to bounce back from Saturday's loss in Latvia.
Healy has scored 11 goals in the campaign and 31 overall in 58 international appearances.
Denmark are fourth in the group, five points behind Northern Ireland and Spain but they do have a game in hand.
They will expect three points at home to Liechtenstein on Wednesday although coach Morten Olsen has told his players not to underestimate the minnows.
"It's not 'just' Liechtenstein," he insisted.
"We looked at the results last Saturday and there is no 'just' in football anymore.
"Liechtenstein have had a couple of good results, Iceland among others, and we have to be prepared. They will be compact with a couple of quick players up front.
"We're obviously optimistic with regards to qualifying for Euro 2008, but we have a couple of difficult matches ahead and the first is tonight. We need to make the most of our chances and that's that."
