Thunder officials will meet the FFA CEO Ben Buckley today to discuss timeframes and requirements ahead of a potential inclusion in the A-Leauge perhaps as soon as next season.

Townsville officials have been in Melbourne this week in talks with possible sponsors. This follows a recent expedition to SoccerEx – an expo for the movers and shakers of world football held in South Africa.

On the pitch, Townsville already has on board Kiwi football legend Wynton Rufe as either coach or in a football operations role.

As for players, the name Steve Corica of Sydney FC and Socceroo Michael Thwaite – both North Queenslanders - have been mentioned as potential signings.

With Gold Coast Galaxy launching a strong argument for inclusion, Townsville Thunder could make it a trifecta of Queensland clubs in the A-League.
