The 29-year-old striker makes the move from South American with the option of a three-year permanent deal at the end of the season, joining Arsenal's Marouane Chamakh as the second attacking reinforcement to arrive at Upton Park in the off-season.

"I am really happy to be here at West Ham," Wellington told the West Ham website.

"Everyone has been very kind to me since I have been at the club this week. I think I can do my best here and I am coming to England to prove to everyone that I am one of the best strikers in Brazil and to get better and better.

"I am strong, I am a fighter and I can score with both feet. I run a lot on the pitch and I can play as either as first or second striker."

Reading meanwhile have completed the signing of fullback Stephen Kelly from Fulham for an undisclosed fee, joining the promoted strugglers on a a two-and-a-half year deal.

Kelly, 29, has made just two English Premier League appearances so far this term for Fulham but his new manager, Brian McDermott, is confident he will make an impact.

"I'm delighted to have Stephen here," McDermott told the club's official website.

"He has played a lot of games in the Premier League and more than 30 times for his country.

"He's the kind of player I've been talking about - someone with great experience, but at 29 still young in football terms and at a really good stage in his career."

Finally, Galatasaray sporting director Abdurrahim Albayrak expects Wesley Sneijder to agree a move from Inter Milan to the Turkish Super Lig champions within days.

"All that is left is for the player to agree to the move," Albayrak told Sporx.

"His wages are too high for Inter, and right now, it is most likely that the player will accept our terms."
